A short three days trip to Mt. Mulu, Sarawak.

It has been a while since I put up anything on my blog. This one were some pictures of Mulu I had with my sister Hilda and her husband, Michael from Canada. As a Sarawakian who has live in Miri since my childhood and only a short distance flight from Miri to there while people around the world came over thousand of miles to see and experience it. It really a shame if I have not visit it. So much wonderful talks have been said about the world's biggest cave but I have put it off until last February my sister asked me whether I would want to go with them. Yea, why not! So much have been heard about the unique amazing cave so I went straight to it to planning and got everything arranged for the three of us to fly from Miri over to Mulu.
Not only did we experience to see the World heritage tropical rainforest and caves. Gunung Mulu is amongst the world's most extensive cave system, the world's largest chamber and passage. I truly love and appreciate the quality time I had with my sister.

A trek to Mount Kinabalu, Sabah

I have actually planned a trip to scale Mount Kinabalu together with my two sons a few years back. But      things did not turn up as it is as both were busy with their studies and cannot fix an appropriate time we can do it together as father and sons affair. Maybe some day I might be able to do it with them as I love to spend some time with them before they are married.

The ascent to Mount Kinabalu is not that hard actually. You just need to be at least fit, no altitude sickness and able to trek 8-9 hours coming back all the way from the mountain's peak then back to the starting trail from the park where we started. Going up is easiest as one need to walk 4-5 hours to the mid mountain where we can rest the night before continuing to the peak early in the morning around 2:30am.

Awesome, amazingly interesting to see how nature and creation formed itself. The formation of the mountain's rocks, the twisting ascending rocks that formed the mountain, the peace, tranquility, the waterfalls, the early morning mist, freshness of the air and the natural floral beauties at the base of the trails to the mountain. A natural beauty!

Semporna

Semporna is a beautiful paradise for photographers, tourists who seek tranquility, scuba diving and snorkeling. It is in Sabah's east coast on the island of Borneo, Malaysia.
It claimed to consists and surrounded with 49 islands with 119 villages. The residents consists mainly of the ethnic Bajaus and they rely on the rich coral reefs for their livelihood and income.
An expedition done by the Semporna Marine Ecological in 2010, Semporna has been rated having the world richest coral reefs. We did not manage to get a glimpse of the coral reefs as our hired boat driver gave an excuse of rough sea. Very disappointing indeed.
The people of Sabah should be very proud that they are blessed with such a top marine eco-system in the world. Destructive conducts and practices must be stopped both at sea and land for the sake of protecting the nature of its beauty. The best way of protecting these coral reefs is through education, management and setting up protected sea areas. The government should increase enforcement against illegal fishing and control coastal pollution.

Amazing China

Amazing, fascinating, incredible and awesome country and people.  That's how I summed  up my visit to China last august. China itself is filled with rich cultures, resources and memorable history which is worth recalling and understanding the country and its people there. Lots of negative news on this great country once considered closed to the outside world. Since opening up in the late 70s' they have prosper by leaps and bounds and now have overtaken Japan as the second economy of the world.  There are lots of catching up to do to increase their tourism industry like the cleanliness of public toilets and eatery to entice more people coming to their country. On the industry side, they are rushing to modernize, improve the quality of their products beside low price and have yet to have their own brand name products. With its resources especially the human side, there is no doubt they will excel to be the best of the world. People attitudes and behaviors are hard to change and it will take years. A country this size and a population that big, it cannot be denied they have manage their country and people well. Some photos during our visit to christians friends there.

A sturdy business woman and also a christian whom we visited broke down in tears. Life has never been easy for anyone regardless of race, faith or religion. We are all human and people work hard to get on with lives. For this woman she has some misunderstanding with the church's elders and has not been going to church and fellowship with any of the members. We visited her and show her His love is greater than any love in this world. That explain why she wiped and she nodded she will go back to church service:)
