A short three days trip to Mt. Mulu, Sarawak.

It has been a while since I put up anything on my blog. This one were some pictures of Mulu I had with my sister Hilda and her husband, Michael from Canada. As a Sarawakian who has live in Miri since my childhood and only a short distance flight from Miri to there while people around the world came over thousand of miles to see and experience it. It really a shame if I have not visit it. So much wonderful talks have been said about the world's biggest cave but I have put it off until last February my sister asked me whether I would want to go with them. Yea, why not! So much have been heard about the unique amazing cave so I went straight to it to planning and got everything arranged for the three of us to fly from Miri over to Mulu.
Not only did we experience to see the World heritage tropical rainforest and caves. Gunung Mulu is amongst the world's most extensive cave system, the world's largest chamber and passage. I truly love and appreciate the quality time I had with my sister.

These photos were taken in Belaga near to the Bakun and Murum dams area.I only show the photos of the Penan we visited where church's missionaries, helpers trying to educate them to be more able to adapt to the social lives and fast changing environment of Sarawak. The settlement of this Penan in this area don't have any sanitation in their home. No toilet and wash room in their hut! When asked where they poo and pee, they told me any where convenient. They will need to learn and be taught about hygiene. No doubt over the years their living standard improve from aids from the timber camps. They used to roam around the forest and built shelter on top the trees(some still do in some part of the interior Sarawak forest). The progress will also depend on how fast they want to learn and catch up and expose themselves with the rest of the Sarawak people.

Portraits of the Penan

The looks and needs of the Penan people never stop me want to photo shoot more of their pictures to show anyone  and the world that they need us. Missionaries in the interior have been doing a fantastic job. Workers like this missionaries are scarce and we are praying for more willing aid workers to come in to improve their life. The kids were enthusiastic and always ready to welcome us to come to them more often. They really put up their best to impress us every time we reached them.They are teachable!
